Thomas Paine, a man considered to have devised the name “United States of America” at the time of independence and a published author and political activist, held the post of Excise Officer for Alford between 1764 - 1767.       The Three Horseshoes is a pub to escape to with it's Glamping & campsite which is ideal for visiting and exploring the area. With wonderful Wolds views, the village of Goulceby has long been a popular destination for walkers, bikers, surrounded by pretty footpaths, lanes and tracks, including the long distance Viking Way route. The Three Horseshoes and Goulceby is a perfect place for getting out and enjoying the countryside and scenery that the Lincolnshire Wolds has to offer. It is also only three miles from Cadwell Park race track which holds at least an annual British Superbike Championship event in August.

      The Heneage Arms is a country pub located in Hainton on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds an area of outstanding natural beauty. Since Spring 2012 the pub has been run by volunteers of a community group, although only opening Friday and Saturday they have built a good following. They hold a beer festival and as they have a camp site the audience can be a captured one

      Known locally as the Splash because of the picturesque ford nearby, this 400 year old inn is situated in its own large lawned gardens on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds near Louth. The en-suite rooms are often used by visitors to Cadwell Park or explorers of the Wolds.

      The Micropub is in a small courtyard 50 yards from the Market Place next to The Masons Arms Hotel. The pub has its own microbrewery and distillery located on the industrial estate. TheBrewery produces a massive range of diverse real ales and gins ,usually there are six ales supplied on the bar as well as a well stocked gin shelf And a Local Market Stall selling bottled ales ciders and lagers .The Consortium micropub was opened in June 2017 to give people a chance to taste various ales ciders and lagers from around the uk.

      Rare pub - one of only 22 pubs in the UK lit by gas lamps. No music or bandits, just good pub traditions. Serving up to eight cask beers including four regular beers from the upstairs brewery, plus guest beers.       These premises have been a wine bar since the 1980s and a rare combination of two wine bars and two houses, All built in the early 19th century. The tallest warehouse was built between 1808 and 1834 with cast iron wall plates bearing the name of the local ironmonger, Joseph Morton. Morton's well known ironmongery business operated well into the 20th century.

      The Ferryboat Inn is owned and run by the nearby Haven Golden Sands. It has recently undergone renovation both inside and out.
